Blaise Pascal
{Blaise Pascal}

Blaise Pascal was a brilliant French mathematician, physicist and religious philosopher. Being educated by his father, he wrote a significant paper on projective geometry. In addition, he worked with Pierre de Fermat on the probability method and on Pascal's triangle.

Albert Einstein
{Albert Einstein}

Albert Einstein, who's name has become synonymous with genius. Albert Einstein was a German born theoretical physicist. Although he is better known for his scietific works, Albert Einstein used the math he knew to produce all of his scientific advancements. In addition, Albert Einstein' contribiutions to math include classical problems of statistical mechanics.

Archimedes of Syracuse
{Archimedes}

Archimedes of Syracuse was a Greek physicist, engineer,  inventor, enginner, inventor, astronomer, but most importantly, Archimedes was a great mathematician. Archimedes used the method of exhaustion to approximate the value of pi. Archimedes then proved that the area enclosed by a parabola and a straight line is 4/3 multiplied by the area of a triangle with equal base and height. Archimedes was one of the first great mathematicians in history.

Charles Babbage
{Charles Babbage}
Charles Babbage was is an English philosopher, inventor, mechanical engineer, and mathematician. Charles Babbage originated the cocept of a programmable computer. Charles invented, using his math skills, the first mechanical computer that eventually led to more complexed designs. Historians and scientists are astonished at the way his designs were so far advance from his time. Charles is a major contributor towards the development of the computer. Charles really was a brilliant man.

Rene Descartes
{Rene Descartes}
Rene Descartes was a very influential French scientist, writer, and mathematician. Descartes' theory provided the basis for the calculus of Newton and Leibniz. Rene Descartes invented analytical geometry and he invented the notation which uses superscript to indicate powers or exponents. Descartes' rule of signs is commonly used to determine the number of positive and negative zeros (solutions) of a polynomial.

Gottfried Leibniz
{Gottfried Leibniz}

Gottfried Leibniz was a very brilliant German philosopher and Mathematician. Gottfried is credited along with Newton for the discovery of Calculus, eventhough he did not publish his works until 1684. Although Gottfried's and Newton's works can be considered as primitive, Gottfried is credited with the product rule of differential calculus.  Until this day, there is still a debate whether Newton or Leibniz discovered Calculus independently.
