What is the Pre-IB Scholars Academy?

Informational Power Point Presentation at Scholars Academy PPT

Students enter the Pre-IB Scholars Academy in the 9th grade through an application process.  The Scholars Academy curriculum provides for advanced study through Honors and AP classes, as well as the foundation skills necessary for college preparation. Scholars Academy students are required to complete four years of foreign language, a minimum of six Advanced Placement courses and completion of mathematics through Pre-Calculus.  The core courses of language arts, mathematics, science, and social studies must be taken every year. After matriculating into the Academy, students must maintain a minimum "unweighted" grade point average of 3.0 in the core classes to retain their status as members of the Academy.

During the sophomore year, students may apply for enrollment in the IB Programme and pursue the IB Diploma in their Junior and Senior year. These students will earn Advanced Placement credit concurrently while enrolled in certain IB courses during their upper-class years.  Students must maintain a minimum "unweighted" grade point average of 2.5 in the core classes in order to be accepted and remain in the Diploma Programme.

In both programs, students have the ability for meaningful activities and internships, and embark upon original research and service leadership projects in preparation  to matriculate into selective institutions of higher learning.  Our students have been accepted into top colleges and universities across the country.
